  • Can you think of the best way to get fit?
  • Have you ever tried some of them? Did they work?
  • Think of some ways you could get exercise and make some money at the same time.

Ever wished you could ride the subway for free? Well, if you are living in Moscow and willing to do a little work, you can.

Vystavochaya subway station has a vending machine set up that will count how many squats are done. If the person is able to complete the task within two minutes, it will print out a free ride ticket. Of course, for those keen to avoid turning up at work stinking of sweat, cash payment which is 30 rubles (about $0.93 for a single journey) continue to be accepted.

The special machine is part of a wider campaign being run by Russia’s Olympic Committee to promote next year’s Winter Games in Sochi and to encourage people to get in better shape.

“We wanted to show that the Olympic Games is not just an international competition that people watch on TV, but that it is also about getting everyone involved in a sporting lifestyle,” Alexander Zhukov, president of the Russian Olympic Committee, told Russian news agency RIA Novosti.

The machine will be available until December 3, while the games start in February. Other activities are planned to get people involved in the Olympics, including exercise bikes that produce electricity to charge cell phones.
